There has been a lot of speculation about the future of the DetroitSportsRag over the last few weeks (mainly due to my excessive use of pointed innuendo) and the questions have only heated up over the last few days.

Will the site finally go NxT LvL? Have I been offered a job at the new SPORTS station in Detroit (ESPN1090)? How do I feel about the recently concluded Worst Detroit Sports Media Personality Tournament? Was that contest rigged as one contestant suggested? How do you respond to the continued wrongful accusations by Terry Foster that I am a racist and what is your opinion of Matt Dery’s continued cowardly silence on the matter?

Fucked-Up Four Preview

It never made sense that the Detroit Sports Rag would hold a “Best Sports Media Member” tournament. Years ago, it happened. Back before the site became known simply as “The Dirt”, the Detroit Sports Rag was founded primarily to criticize the dreadful media personalities in this town. Jeff Moss, the founder of this stupid place, was wise to return to our roots by launching a tournament for the WORST sports media member in town.

I am not sure how Moss even came up with four 1-seeds for the tournament crowning the BEST media member. This new tournament had to have been much more fun to draw up. Could you imagine trying to list SIXTY FOUR candidates for BEST SPORTS PERSONALITY? Poor Moss.

As many of you know from my constant reminders on this website, I am an atheist who constantly mocks the religious for what I perceive to be their childlike beliefs.

But even though I laugh hysterically at the thought of an omnipotent deity, I WAS born Jewish which to me is as much an ethnicity as it is a religion. I know a lot of my fellow Jews despise that line of thinking and believe it is anti-Semitic when coming from a gentile.

Back in August, I had the brilliant idea to host a “Tournament of 64” which would determine the best Detroit Sports Media personality with the voting to take place on Twitter and Facebook.

It was going to be the second such bracket conducted on the DSR as Bob Wojnowski took down the first tourney back in 2005 like it was some sort of high calorie pastry. So, I compiled the seedings and matchups for the 2011 edition and posted it on the DSR.

Tigers Early Spring Training Mossisms™

I promised myself that I wouldn’t do this.  I vowed that the inevitable sideshow that was sure to take place in Lakeland, Florida this spring regarding Brandon Inge’s quest to become the team’s everyday second baseman wouldn’t aggravate me.

Well, in the about the same amount of hours it took Reggie Hammond and Jack Cates to take down Ganz and Billy Bear and recover the $500,000 in the trunk of Reggie’s Porsche Targa, I have already gone back on my word.

Ken Holland’s Trade Deadline Failure

I am not going to lie to you.  Being a fan of the Detroit Red Wings was A LOT more fun prior to 2005 when Gary the Actor, errr, I mean Bettman, instituted a hard salary cap which lowered the team’s total salary by about TWENTY MILLION dollars.

With the introduction of the airtight wage ceiling, the Wings no longer co…uld go out and sign the pick of the free-agent litter in July nor could the franchise make multiple February trade deadline moves due to the new restraining CBA.
